Delivery methods are Icare’s way of taming the complexity of AVETMISS Delivery Modes. This achieved by allowing you to name each delivery method and setup only the delivery methods you need.
You can name each delivery method using vocabulary already used on your Training Plans, saving the need to learn the naming supplied in AVETMISS.
There are a large number of AVETMISS Delivery Modes especially when considering the change in AVETMISS releases and state specific variations. You avoid this by only creating delivery methods that are used by your RTO, and you can add & archive items as your RTO’s delivery methods change.
Delivery methods are managed by navigating:
-
Home ⇒ Management ⇒ Manage Delivery Methods.
Delivery Mode (2018 onwards)
A delivery mode in release 8.0 of AVETMISS can be combined from three delivery modes: internal, external and worplace-based. These are defined in the AVETMISS specification as:
- Internal delivery
is where the client and the trainer attend any permanent or semi-permanent training delivery location. This includes workshop, laboratory, simulator, and classroom-based training even when the training is delivered using video or internet links in real time.
- External delivery
is where the client does not primarily attend a physical delivery location but instead undertakes training in their own time and location using training materials that are provided online or by correspondence. The client does not usually have to undertake training at a particular time. This type of training is often referred to as self paced learning. Contact with the trainer is usually limited to feedback on submitted work.
- Workplace-based delivery
includes training activity conducted in the workplace whether it is conducted by the training organisation or the employer; for example, industrial/work experience, field placement, fully on-the-job training or structured workplace training delivered at a place of employment.
When you select a combination of more than one delivery mode, you also need to select the predominant delivery mode.
Icare asks you to select the predominant delivery mode first and then optionally select any additional delivery modes that apply.
Delivery Mode (up to 2017)
A delivery mode in release 7.0 of AVETMISS represents only the predominant delivery mode. The delivery modes are defined in the AVETMISS specification as:
10
Classroom basedincludes classroom-based delivery at any permanent or semi-permanent training delivery location.
20
Electronic basedincludes web-based resources, computer-based resources, online interactions both on or off campus includes radio, television, videoconference, or audioconference.
30
Employment basedincludes training activity conducted in the workplace whether it is conducted by the training organisation or the employer; for example, industrial/work experience, field placement, or fully on-job training.
40
Other delivery (e.g. correspondence)is used where the predominant method of learning is not classroom-based, employment-based or electronic-based instruction.
Printing key
If you print training plan documents from Icare you will probably want a condensed form of the delivery method to print.
The condensed form is probably made up of codes as defined on your training plan.
The key field of Icare’s delivery method is where you would enter this condensed form.
Your training plan report template would then refer to this field as {Delivery Method Key}
.
Special case for RPL and credit transfer
AVETMISS does define delivery mode codes for when no training is delivered, i.e. when an RPL or credit transfer assessment is made. Icare hides these codes from you and exports the appropriate codes automatically for enrolments that have been assessed as RPL or credit transfer.
