Create a Statement of Attainment report

Step 1 - Existing Document?

If you have an existing Statement of Attainment document then save it as a Microsoft Word Document in Rich Text Format in a place you can find later.

Jump to Step 3.

Step 2 - Blank Document

If you do not have an existing document, then create and save a blank Microsoft Word Document in Rich Text Format in a place you can find later.

Modify the blank document to include the text/images that you want on the Statement of Attainment.

Note: a Sample Statement of Attainment document is available. This sample document includes the Report Commands and Fields (discussed in Step 3, 4 and 5 below) that are required extract the relevant data from Icare when generating a Statement of Attainment.

You may like to modify the sample document to include the text/images that you require on the Statement of Attainment.

Step 3 - Report Commands

At the top of the document include the following commands

 {Ask for Event typed Statement of Attainment}
 {Include Module Event}
   {Sort by Module Code}
 {End Include}

NOTE: These lines will disappear when you run the report and may affect the placement of text/images below.

Step 4 - Student Fields

The report can include details of the Student, Course, Statement Number etc... when the report is run. The following fields are a sample of what you can enter into the template:

 {Student Identifier}
 {Student Surname}
 {Student Given Names}
 {Student Name}
 {Course Code}
 {Course Name}
 {Event Date}
 {Statement of Attainment Number}

NOTE: The {Event Date} field can be formatted.

Step 5 - Modules Table

The report can include a list of Modules when the report is run. This is done by creating a table in the document and entering headings, commands and fields into the cells.

One row will be repeated for each module that is reported. This row should have the following commands in the first cell.

 {List Module Event}

Each cell in the same row can contain fields such as:

 {Module Code}
 {Module Name}

Step 6 - Save document

Save the Word document and take note where it has been saved.

Step 7 - Add report to Icare

From the Home Page in Icare:

If Icare does not understand your commands/fields in the document, it will give you a list of errors to resolve before trying to add the report again.

Otherwise it will take you to the Add Report page where you can give the report a name and some summary details. Once these are entered, click the Save Changes link on the left hand side.

Icare will keep track of changes made to this report in the future, each version will be dated and you can supply a comment of what was changed. Enter First version or Imported from old Icare or similar and the click the Save Changes link on the left hand side.

Step 8 - Test the report

To print this report you will need to find a Student and Enrolment that has a Statement of Attainment event. When you look at the details of that event (on the Event page with Statement of Attainment as the secondary heading) there will be a Print Event link on the left hand side.

Step 8 - Multiple templates?

If you wish to create multiple Statement of Attainment Report templates repeat steps 1-7 for the other templates. A set of Rules for Statement of Attainments can then be created to determine which template should be used under specific circumstances.
