Add a Course

From the Home page select Management, then Select Manage Courses.

Select Add course from the left panel. Complete the displayed data entry screen with the details of your Module.

Code

Enter a Code for your Course

Name

Enter a Name for your Course

When the course is not a nationally accredited one, enter an RTO defined course number and name. If the course is linked to a skill set, the skill set may be used as the course name. If the course is a nationally accredited course, refer to Import a Qualification from Training.gov.au.

RTO Defined courses

Under Behaviours, enter the following:

Package

Leave blank.

Based On

Enter the most relevant training qualification from the RTO scope. If this course doesn't yet exist in Icare, add the course using these instructions or go to Import a course.

Report As

Enter The course this is based on (without completions).

This option is chosen because this will cause the course to be reported to AVETMISS under the "based on " course code, but successful completions of the RTO defined course will not be reported as sucessful completion of the full "based on" course.

Count As

Select Not counted.

This option is chosen, because this field determines whether the completion is included in the RTOs AQTF competency completion data.

Under Classification, enter the following:

Nominal Hours

Enter the number of hours the course will take.

Recognition

Enter 14 Other, developed by the RTO/industry/... to meet an identified training need.

Level of Education

Click on the three dots to the right of the field and select the most appropriate category from the list.

Field of Education

Click on the three dots to the right of the field and select the most appropriate category from the list.

Anzsco

Click on the three dots to the right of the field and select the most appropriate category from the list.

Is Vet?

Place a Tick this box.

Once complete, click Save Changes on the left hand side.

Now that you have created the course on Icare, you can add Common Modules, Course Folders and/or Course Templates.
