Tuition Fee

The AVETMISS Standard defines a Tuition Fee field but leaves the interpretation up to each state or territory.

State or Territory variations

Queensland

Queensland uses this field to record the Co-contribution Fee (also known as Student Contribution Fee) collected per unit of competency (rounded to nearest dollar).

Tasmania:

Tasmania uses this field to record the rate that was charged for training (rounded to nearest dollar).

Tasmania defines another field, Rersource Fee, to record fees other than tuition fees that was charged (rounded to nearest dollar).

Victoria

Victoria uses this field to record the rate that was charged for training (in cents per hour).

Victoria defines another field, Other Fee, to record fees other than tuition fees that was charged (rounded to nearest dollar).

Western Australia

Western Australia uses this field to record the fees charged for tuition (rounded up to nearest dollar). In their TAMS Electronic Reporting, this field is named Course Fee.

Western Australia defines another field, Resource Fee, to record fees charged other than tuition fees (rounded up to nearest dollar).

Icare fields

To accomodate the variation between states and territories, Icare has two sets of fields for fees:

Fees per unit
  • Credit Transfer Fee,

  • Tuition Fee,

  • RPL Fee and

  • Resouce Fee.

Other Fees

These fees can be named and applied to the whole enrolment or to individual units.

Icare Events

Icare has a couple of alternative event types that can be used to enter fees:

RTOs reporting only to Queensland may use just the Student Contribution Fee event since it is the simplest and specific to Queensland. This event is typically entered at the start of the enrolment and defines the fees for all units.

Alternatively the Statement of Fees event can be used in all states and territories. This event defines the fees that will be charged for all units. If the units in an enrolment change, or a unit's fee type changes (tuition, CT or RPL) then a new Statement of Fees event is entered restating the fees for all units in the enrolment.

The third alternative is to enter fees with Invoice events.

A Statement of Fees event can be used in conjuction with Invoice events. The Statement of Fees event defines the fees to be charged, and what is reported to AVETMISS. The Invoice events would be used to coordinate with your accounting system.
