Connect to a Hosted database

Icare hosting is a service that locates your Icare data in the cloud allowing you to access it from any location along with nightly backups.

To connect to a hosted database you will need to know which server your database is located on, and the email used for your hosting account.

At the moment there are three hosting servers:

• Hosting, no mention of location

• Brisbane

• Melboure

Once you know which server & email address to use, continue the steps below.

Install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

Install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2019 by:

• Download and run the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2019 (32-bit)

• Tick I agree to the license terms and conditions

• Click Install

At the end of the installation process you will see either:

• A Setup Successful message, or

• A Modify Setup message, or

• A Setup Failed message with error 0x80070666 Another version of this product is already installed.

In all cases, click Close

• In the Modify Setup case, answer Yes to the Are you sure you want to cancel question.

Install the MySQL Connector/ODBC

If you have not already installed the MySQL Connector/ODBC software on your computer it can be installed by:

• Download an run the MySQL Connector/ODBC installer,

• Click Next on the Welcome page,

• Tick I accept, then click Next on the Licence Agreement page,

• Leave Typical ticked, then click Next on the Setup Type page,

• Click Install on the Read to Install page,

• Windows may ask you to allow changes to be made to your device,

• Click Finish on the Wizard Completed page.

Install Icare

If you have not already installed the Icare software on your computer it can be installed by:

• Download an run the Icare installer,

• Click Next on the Welcome page,

• Click Next on the Select Start Menu Folder page,

• Click Next on the Select Additional Tasks page,

• Click Install on the Ready to Install page,

• Click Finish on the Completing the Icare Setup Wizard page.

Update Icare if needed

Each time Icare is started, it checks if there any updates available.

Start the Icare software, if updates are available, click Update Now.

Add a Data Source

Icare needs to know where your database is located, Icare asks you by displaying the Add Data Source page.

Click one of the following three options that matches the server your database is located on:

• Add Hosted Data Source

• Add Hosted Data Source (Brisbane)

• Add Hosted Data Source (Melbourne)

Complete the Add Data Source process:

• Enter your Email,

• Click Send sign in code,

• Check your emails for an email titled Sign in code for Icare hosting -- it will contain a 6 digit sign in code,

• Enter the Sign in Code that was emailed to you into Icare,

• Click Verify sign in code,

• Click Save Changes.
